A Very Special Thank You!!!

As always, there are many things to be "thankful" for through out the year, but Thanksgiving is a special time of the year that we show our gratitude for the abundances we have in our lives.

This year, I want to say a special Thank You to all of you out there in the world who have been supportive of my artistic endeavors in the doll and figurative arts.  In doing so, I have created a special sale in my Etsy store for this Holiday weekend to show my gratitude for your continued support.

Put in coupon code Thanksgiving15 and receive 15% off of your total purchase from now until December 2, 2014!   That's right!  The sale stretches from Thanksgiving day right through Cyber Monday!  So, if you've had your eye on an item but were waiting on a special time to make the purchase, now is the time!

As a special note, I also do lay-away plans as well.  You can break the payments up into 2 or 3 installments.

As always, thanks for following along here at the Coven of Crones (a.k.a. The Pixie Knoll)!

Happy Thanksgiving Folks!

The Etsy Store....

I realize I made this promise a couple of weeks ago at the very least, but I have FINALLY managed to get my Halloween items listed into the Etsy shop.  Better late than never is my motto, especially when it comes to loading up all those items into the shop.

The only items that are not listed in there yet are the bat ornaments.  Due to the time of year, I have run out of day light in order to accomplish that task, and I'm afraid that the lighting inside my house is just too poorly right now to capture good enough photos to get the job done. I would use the photo tent, but I really need to invest in better light bulbs for the set-up in order to make good quality photos.  So, for now, I will just have to put the task off until I have proper lighting available.

At any rate, for a quick link to the Etsy store (which goes under the heading of Pixie Knoll), I thought I would post a link for you all to gander at the many items available.  You can also follow the Etsy badge on the side of my page too.  And, if all else fails, you can always click on the photos in my website to take you directly to the item listing in the store!   :-)

As always, thanks for stopping by The Coven of Crones!

Gourd Silly

If you have read The Pixie Knoll blog, then you already know that I am working away on this years Santa commissions and hopefully one or two extras for some lucky individuals out there.

But, a funny thing happens when one is busy sculpting away on Holiday wonders.  Your mind begins to wander about..... thinking up all sorts of possible projects one can create in the near future.  And, of course as a result, my mind meandered back to the Spirits in Sanford show, my Halloween projects and the fact that the show was held in a folk art gallery.  Of course, my style of work probably isn't really "folk art" by some standards, but, the stories themselves are indeed folk.  After all, pixies, gnomes and the like are about as folk as you can get really.  I mean, just pick up the nearest fairytale story you grew up with and you will see!

At any rate, I suddenly had this desire to combine my craft with a more ancient style of art, one that stems from the necessity of survival or rather, one that made life easier for ancient folk.  The simple Gourd!  I do not know why it never dawned on me before, because truthfully, I have always LOVED gourd art.  I am like a moth to a flame when I come across a booth at a festival that has gourd art.  I love the rich, earthy colors of the gourds and their simple, decorative and practical uses.  A gift from mother nature to be sure.  What could be better than to combine the ancient uses of the simple gourd with my ancient fairytale pixie folk?     Nothing!   LOL

As a result, I have gone gourd silly and ordered some dried bottle gourds.  They are not a super big, ranging from about 2 to 4 inches I guess according to the description I have from the order.  And, of course, as you might have guessed, the first will be practice gourds, just to see what I am capable of doing with them.  If all goes well, then this is just the beginning as I have a ton of ideas that are just bursting at the brain seams wanting to get out!  So, as you can imagine, I can't wait to try my hand at some gourd art!   As it is,  I have already decided that I will have to invest in a mini scroll saw.  The more tools for the studio the better!

Anyway, I'm off to explore the world of mini scroll saws.  In the meantime, I would love to hear your thoughts on gourd art.  Why not share in the comments below?  I would love to hear from you!

Before I go I thought I would share the picture of the gourds from the seller I purchased them from.  Don't they look wonderful?   Oh the things I can think of creating with these beauties.  The possibilities are endless!

Wicked sweet creations!

Halloween hasn't officially hit the bewitching hour yet as we still have just over a week before it arrives.  And, there is still plenty of time to check out what Halloween creations I still have available for purchase on my website.    I know I said last week that I was going to add them to my Etsy store soon. and I do still intend to do just that.  However,  I have a festival event this coming weekend that I am showing at and so thought it best to just wait until after the festival to see what I have left.  I am certain that all of you guys understand my reasoning.  After the festival, I will indeed be posting up what I have left for purchase.   With that said, again, if you are interested in making a purchase prior to me leaving for the festival, just send me an email at  for your inquiry.  Otherwise, I hope to see some of you good folks at the Mount Dora Craft Festival!  My location this year will be at the Congregational Church of Mount Dora, 650 N. Donnelly Street, Mount Dora, Florida  32757.   Remember, I will be located INSIDE of the church location so be certain to come in and say hello!

In the meantime, while we wait for all of the jack-o-lanterns to burn down to their final glow of their candlewicks,  I thought I would share with you what I have been working on for the next major holiday event and for the local craft fair.  After all, one must continue to create and prepare for all the holidays, whether they be super spooky or just spooktacular!

It took me over a week to complete all 20 paper clay snowmen ornaments; from the sculpting, to sanding, right down to the final painting.   All the work was well worth it as they came out super adorable!  Each one is unique and are one-of-a-kind, measuring approximately 5 to 6 inches in length.  No molds were used to create these little cuties!  If you should be interested in making a purchase, please email me the description of the particular ornament.  Example:  red hat, with green polka dot scarf.  Like I said, each one is different and no 2 are painted alike.  These little cuties are $20 each.  Or, if you rather, you can just wait for the craft festival this coming weekend and hope you can get your hands on one then....if they are not all gone by then.    (-:

So, there ya have it folks!   I hope you find them just as adorable as I think that they are.  Have a spooktacular day and thanks for stopping by the Coven of Crones!

Halloween is fast approaching and will be here and gone in no time as the fall weather starts to settle in upon us.   I'm sure many of you have your wonderful Halloween collections in full display right now and have been on the search for new additions to bolster your collections.  If you are like me, then you tend to add a little every year.  It is always nice to add to our collections.   I think it shows a part who of we are in the world; a reflection on our personalities!

With that said, I have 5 of my latest creations up on eBay right now at low starting prices.  Remember, these are all one-of-a-kind pieces, where no molds were used in their creations.  NO one out there will have a piece like these...they are unique in their own ORIGINAL piece of art work.   Below you will find their pictures with their auction links.  At the end of the auction, if they have not sold, they will be listed into my Etsy store at their regular prices, so do NOT miss out on the special starting prices!   Pictures truly do not do these justice.  You will be amazed at the level of detail in each of these sculpts!  One patron at the Spirits in Sanford said they were so life-like that she expected them to speak to her!  :-D  That was an awesome compliment!

The Aftermath of Spirits in Sanford...picture heavy!!

Spirits in Sanford has come and gone, and it's time to deal with the aftermath of the show.  What was total chaos in the studio the month leading up to the show event, has now fallen to the wayside of the clean-up crew.  That means ME = The Clean-up Crew.  HAHA  I have to tell you's going to be a frightful experience entering into the bowels of the studio and putting things back in their proper places.  It looks like hell hounds ran ramped through my room and unleashed the Kraken while they were at it!   No over exaggeration here!

At any rate, I did want to thank all of you the kind folks that did come out to the Spirits in Sanford event to see the show and a special thank you to those who took the time to stop by my table and make a purchase.  Your support is so important to the show success because it enables the artisans to continue attending the shows.  It's a hand-in-hand sort of thing.  No support means no artist, and no artist means no show!   Aside from that, I did want to say thank you to all of you who did come out and spend some time at the show and seeing some of the awesome stuff that the artist brought with them this year!  It just keeps getting better and better!

Aside from that, I wanted to share some pics of the finished pieces that I did for the show.  If you see something you are interested in or would like further details on an item,  please contact me, as they are all available for purchase.  The idea is that I would like to give my faithful followers a chance to make a purchase before I list them up to the world in my Etsy store.  I realize not everyone is able to travel to a show or sometimes things come up in real life that take precedence.  Anyway, all of the items you see here today are available.  If you see something you like or you would like more pictures, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I have paypal and I will ship the items.   My email is .  With that said, I have already listed these items to my website , but I have not linked them to the Etsy store, nor did I include pricing on them.  Like I said, I wanted to give you kind folks a chance at an item before I put it up on Etsy.

Anyway, enough of all this gab...let's get on with the show!    (-:   I hope you like them and would love to hear your feedback!

Well, folks, thank you all so much for taking a look at my work and for your interest too.   Remember, if you see something you are interested in, please feel free to contact me.  Otherwise, these will be listed up into the Etsy store, and then will be hauled off to the Mount Dora Craft Show in a couple of weeks at the end of the month here.  :-)   So, this is your chance to get your hands on something before the rest of the world does!

And, as an after thought, just because the Spirits in Sanford show is over, doesn't mean I will not be creating Halloween themed stuff all year long.  The Every Witch Way Lane store will still be running a new item each month all year long, so stay tuned for the next shop entry!  :-)

As always, thank you very much for taking the time to stop by the Coven of Crones!

More project pics!

Day by day, I steadily inch my way to the Spirits in Sanford event, and hour by hour I am working my fingers to the bone!  It may be frightfully ghoulish sounding, but it's pretty much the truth because I've been burning candles down to their stumps going way beyond the bewitching hour for the last couple of weeks trying to get caught up since I completed that polar bear commission.   Of course, I am not complaining from the lack of sleep nor of the lack of skin on my fingers, rather I am enjoy the process immensely.  It is a nice change of pace creating these fun characters, one that I have enjoyed very much.

At the moment, I have several projects in the works on the table and I would love to show them all to you....but alas, I will only give you a glimpse into the world that is the mess of my work bench.   :-P  Suffice to say, there is quite a bit going on and exactly how I am keeping it all straight is anything short of a miracle.  Regardless of that fact, I guess, in a way, it is how my mind works.  Pretty scary if you ask me.  LOL   One time, my computer literate husband (he works with computers for a living) asked me how I can keep it all straight, I simply replied that it was like having a 1000 browser tabs opened at the same time.  HA HA   How is that for a nightmarish answer to the computer expert!  :-D

Anyway, I wanted to stop by here and give you a quick peek as to what has been brewing on the work bench  lately.  First, I will start with that cute little face I showed you last time.  I have made quite some progress on it and am now ready to paint and cloth.  She has turned out to be pretty darn cute so far.  Perhaps you will agree!  Here you will see the next stages of the project, which is the build up of the armature with her pose right down to the finished sculpted piece waiting to be painted, clothed and all the fancy details to be added!

Finished sculpted piece waiting to be painted and dressed with all the fancy details!  OOOOPS!!!  and a sneak peek of a pumpkin critter at her feet!  :-D
And, of course, I have been so busy working on umpteen projects, that I didn't take WIP pictures of the others.  But, I will give you a peek of them too; kind of a family group picture.  There are still a few more not pictured here that are also in the works.  They are in different stages of the creation process, none of which have been painted and clothed yet.  Needless to say, this is going to be a VERY busy week ahead of me.   So, here is a sneak peek of a few new members of the Coven of Crones waiting to be completed on my work bench for the moment.  I hope you enjoy the progress so far.  I would love to hear your feed back as these are a bit different than my normal works.  :-D

A motley crew of the new Coven of Crones members in the works!
Now that I have shared with you a few WIPs, it's time to share a few other things too.   First and foremost, I want to remind all of you good folks that the Every Witch Way Lane blog store is up and running with some super cool items this month.  Don't forget to stop by and check out the neat one-of-a-kind stuff there if you haven't already.   Just follow the link to shop directly from the blog store!

The next thing on the list is not to forget about the Spirits in Sanford event coming up October 3rd and 4th..  If you are local, plan on attending the event and would like a post card for the show contact me at my email,    Be sure to title the email "post card for the show" so that I know it is not spam; send me your mailing address and I'll pop a post card in the mail to you.  I only have about 15 post cards left, so only serious individuals need contact, please.  Otherwise, you can also go to their website,  I'm sure you will find all the information you need for attending the show listed on their site.

Aside from those 2 topics, again, if you are local, and are unable to attend the show in Sanford, Florida, do not worry, as I will be showing at another venue at the end of October.  That will be the annual Mount Dora Craft Festival, in Mount Dora, Florida.  I will have left-over items from the Spirits in Sanford (if there are any available) and a few other things as well that include pixies and Christmas too.  So do not fret!  As strange as it might sound, I will be displaying my creative one-of-a-kind pieces inside one of the local churches.  I will be INSIDE the location.  There will be vendors outside as well as inside, so be sure to come in and find me!  I am not sure of the exact location as it is the first time I will be at this particular spot for the festival.  But, it is my understanding that it is not too far off the beaten path of the festival, and up towards the front end as well.  (I am usually at another location, but this time I decided to try a new location since the offer presented itself to me.)

The location that I will be at is:

Congregational Church of Mount Dora
650 North Donnelly Street
Mount Dora, Florida  32757

So, with that bit of news out of the way, the only other tidbit I have to offer up as far as show events are concerned is the fact that I have signed up for the IDS show....International Doll and Teddy Show in Ashville, North Carolina, that is coming up in June 2015.  As it is, this is not written in stone yet, though I have secured a table at the event.  Finances hinge a lot on the finalization of the show.  And, anyone who knows the business of doll making, the shows are a very important key factor in the make or break of your career in this industry.  So, with that said, I need to sell as much as I can in order to make this trip possible.  With  Halloween around the corner and Christmas coming up sooner than you can imagine, it is a good time to start thinking on your gifts to give to your loved ones (or to yourselves!).   You will find that I will be listing items on Ebay at special starting prices to that we can all benefit.  You can get a great one-of-a-kind piece of work, and I will be able to fund the trip without having to beg the hubby for support.  :-D   It's a win-win situation if you ask me!   So please stop by my other blog and see this weeks offerings up for Ebay.  Perhaps you might find something you like at a great price!

In the meantime, I hope you have enjoyed the WIPs and will stop back soon to see some finished pieces!  As always, thank you for stopping by the Coven of Crones!

WIPS and New Offerings up for August!

Hello to all of you spooktacular people in the world following along here at the Coven of Crones!  I wanted to pop in here to update you on some things.

First, the Every Witch Way Lane blog store now has new items available for the month of August with new artist and new items to bewitch and tantalize you!  What could be better than that?  Along with the new items, they decided to permit the "black cats, witches hats and broomstick" challenge pieces, and so, since I was in a time crunch from finishing up my polar bear commission piece, my offering this month is in fact my challenge piece.  "Gertrude's New Familiar" is now available for purchase at the EWWL blog store.  :-D   Here is her link directly to the store to make it easier for you.  Of course, you can always find the logo sticker on the right side of the page to lead you to the store as well.

"Gertrude's New Familiar"

Speaking of store fronts, I guess now would be a good time to address a question I have recently been asked by a few patrons. I was asked if I was going to add Halloween items to my Etsy store and website soon.  The answer to that is yes, but not at this very moment.  My reason for this is because I am slated to show my work at the Spirits in Sanford show the beginning of October, and I am trying to be sure that I have enough work to make a proper display for my first time showing in a Halloween themed event.  Since I am new to creating the Halloween themed art and showing in such a venue, I am just taking the precaution so that I have enough work to display and make a good showing.   Now, that is not to say that all I have been creating is not available for purchase.  It is, in fact, available.  So, with that said, if you have seen something that you would like to add to your collection, then, please do not hesitate to contact me.  :-)  That, and I have been trying to be sure there is something available once a month at the EWWL blog store too.   This time next year, I will be in a much better position to add things to the Etsy store and website  page for purchase all year long.  So, I ask that you bare with me through the creative process while I bolster my goods.  Once the show in Sanford is over with the first weekend of October, I will have all my items listed up in the Etsy store and they will be available for purchase.  So, please, if you can't make the show, do not panic!  I will have all the pieces that do not sale up and available for purchase and you will get your items in time to display for Halloween.  Provided that you purchase them early enough from the store to allow for shipping and all that good stuff. :-P
Anyway, I wanted to share with you the next project on my work bench.  Well, really I have about 5+ things I am working on right now, but, hey, whose counting, right?  LOL   This will be the next little pixie witch in the Coven of Crones family.   It's just enough to tickle your Halloween taste buds!   As you can see from her pictures though, she has a super sweet demeanor and I could just kiss her sweet little cherub face.  Can't you?  I have a feeling that she is going to turn out to be a real heart-warmer.  Just like a nice warm cup of apple cider.  Good for the heart and soul.  Let me know if you agree because I think she is going to be adorable!

At any rate, this is all that I have for you today.  So please, don't forget to visit the EWWL blog store and see the new items up for sale for the month of August.  And again, if you have seen something that I have posted so far that you wanted to purchase and thought you missed out on, please don't hesitate to contact me because everything is indeed available.
Thanks once again for following along here at the Coven of Crones.  I really appreciate you stopping by, and following along on my creative journey.  And, too, I always love to hear your comments.  So please, don't be shy!
Have a great day folks and I'll be posting more updates soon!

People's Choice Awards!

First, my apologies that this isn't exactly a Halloween themed post!  But, this is definitely FRIGHTFULLY important!  And, my apologies go out to those of you who mainly follow "The Pixie Knoll" blog, because this post will seem like old news.  And still, for those of you who come here for just the Halloween art, then, please forgive me while I spread the word and beg for your continued support and votes while pursuing my artistic journey in doll making!  :-D

At any rate, this is just a quick post here for my fellow bloggers and followers to let you know that it is once again time to get out and support you favorite doll artist and cast your votes for the People's Choice Awards from the Dolls Awards of Excellence!

This is a very important and prestigious competition for the doll artist who have been selected for awards.  The people's vote IS the MOST IMPORTANT of them all.  After all, it's the people who are the collectors and decide which artist move to the top.  Without your support, doll artist like myself, could not do what we love to do.

Voting is limited to one vote per household.  The deadline for votes is October 6, 2014.  So, get your votes in early and get it out of the way!  It only takes a few minutes of your time.  I can assure you that your votes are greatly appreciated by each and every artist up for vote in the competition.

As for myself, I have 2 pieces up for vote, "Spring Awakening" and "Pixie King Faegan", both are in the same category of "one-of-a-kind dolls under $1250.00" category.  I would be very honored to have your votes for either of my pieces that are up for votes in the competition.

You will find a link directly to Dolls Magazine where you can place your votes.  In the meantime, thank you to everyone who places your vote with me.  I am very appreciative to each and every vote I receive.   :-)   Thank you for your continued support in my doll artist journey!

By the way, both pieces are available for purchase in my Etsy store!  Just follow the link on the right side bar.  :-)

My 2 awards from the 2014 Industry's Choice Award of Excellence from Dolls Magazine!

The "show and tell" for Black Cats, Witches Hats and Broomsticks!

Yes, yes, you guys are completely right.....I'M LATE!!!  My apologies to all of you who have stopped by recently wondering where this witch has been hiding.  So please, have mercy and don't cast any curses, hexes, or point the evil eye at me, or make a voo-doo doll of me and stick it with pins!  That would be just dreadful!

In my defense, the deadline was extended for some of us poor folks who have not completed on time.  And, in all honesty, I have been dealing with some personal issues that had momentarily yanked the wind out of my sails.  Aside from that, I was trying to finish up a HUGE commission of a polar bear (you can see that on my other blog).   And, to boot, I now have a massive ear and sinus infection!  If I didn't know any better, I would swear someone hexed me with some bad juju or something.

Anyway, I don't want to make you kind people wait any longer to see the finished piece.  So, here she is...."Gertrude's New Familiar"!   I hope you like her!  Let me know what you think as I would love to hear your feedback.  :-D
